Default

EOS Station

The EOS-1000 Station comprises the main parts of the weather station. The Housing enclosure made from UV stabilized ABS plastic contains the electronics. Above the enclosure, the Solar shield protects the Temperature, Pressure and Humidity sensor from the element, still allowing air to flow through in order to get proper data readings. These core items are assembled on a high quality stainless steel arm that can easily be installed onto a mounting pole or to the side of a structure.

Data Collection Unit (DCU)

At the hart of the EOS-1000 Environmental monitoring system is located inside the DCU. Here, a computer running a Linux operating system collects data from the "EOS Weather board".

All the sensors are connected to this EOS Board and the environmental data is translated to Data strings that is collected by the Linux software.

After collection of the data, the EOS Software stores this into a local database as well as a local backup and optionally, a remote data base.

Besides the Environmental data, the EOS Board collects extra data such as battery voltage, Door status (tamper contact) and internal temperature.

In addition to the EOS Board and Linux computer, a small LCD display provides all vital information that might be needed to setup the station as well as to obtain data to troubleshoot when no computer is present.

Inside the same housing there is a small Lithium battery that provides power for 3 hours in case of a power failure. The SD-card slot contains the SD card with the Linux operating system. In case the SD card requires replacement, which might be in case of a SW upgrade, this can be done very easily.

The USB connection is used for the backup storage device. All data is backup on this USB mass storage. Ample space is available to add additional modules such as a camera module and a 3G/4G modem.

Temperature Pressure

Temperature, Pressure and Humidity Module

This standard module provides temperature, humidity and pressure readings. The high accuracy sensors ensure quality data that is of the highest standard. In additional to the measured data, the powerful EOS software calculates the following data:

  • Relative Pressure
  • Dewpoint
  • Windchill (wind module must be connected)
  • Humidex
Rain

Rain Module

The EOS-1000 collects rain fall and rain rate data through an Optical Rain Sensor; Unlike the traditional "tipping bucket" style sensor, this optical rain sensor, senses water when it hit the outside surface. The rugged style sensor is very sensitive and starts providing data as soon as water hits the glass.

Although the Optical Rain sensor has many benefits, the accuracy is slightly less than a "regular" tipping style Rain bucket. Therefore, EOS Weather instruments is still able to provide customers with the option of a Tipping rain bucket

Solar

Solar Module

The Solar Module will measure the suns luminosity, radiation and UV levels. The EOS Software will calculate the percentage of cloud cover based on the maximum solar amount that can be expected based on almanac data.

Another great feature of the EOS Software with this module is the calculation of the number of full hours of sunlight that was received during the day.

Wind Module

Wind direction Wind speed

The EOS story all started over the "Anemometer". Therefore, be assured that this is one of the highest quality anemometers available on the market. Low friction ball bearings ensure accurate readings for both wind speed and direction. The electronics in this unit are of the highest quality, employing both Triaxes© and magnetic Hall Sensors to ensure a constant measurement. The EOS Software calculates:

  • Average speed
  • Wind gust
  • Wind run
Soil moisture

Soil Module

Our soil module provides VWC (Volume metric Water Content) data. Currently under development is a new Wireless Soil moisture module that will allow customers to collect soil moisture and soil temperature data at three different depths. Data is then transmitted wireless at regular intervals to the EOS-1000 main station (**).

Tide

Water Level Module

Our water level module is being employed in a location where the worlds highest tides occur. Whether used in Fresh water on rivers or lakes or in the salty ocean water, the sensing probe is made from high grade titanium and can withstand these environments.

Camera

Camera Module

A picture is worth a lot "of data". Models can also have a HD camera on board and be a part of the data gathering process. So you can see what is actually happening at the remote location.

Power and Communications

Standard

The standard supply of the EOS-1000 includes a 24VDc power supply which supplies power to the station through the same Network cable that is used to connect to the Internet (passive PoE).

The internet connection is either through a wired Cat 6 cable or an optional wifi adapter can be utilized. For our "off-the-grid" solution we have developed a wireless solution with a 3G/4G cellular modem as well as a solar panel / battery solution.

Wifi

The EOS station can be connected via Wifi. This requires an additional power source.

3G/4G

The EOS station can be connected via 3G/4G. This requires an additonal power source.

With the 3G/4G communication solution, EOS can offer an additional heavy duty storage battery and solar panel. This way, The EOS-1000 can be used as a stand-alone remote monitoring unit.
